Car #33 E. Evans – S. Martin (Toyota Yaris WRC): I am happy because even if I was first on the road we lost less time than we thought. The stage in Tempio was as difficult as we thought, we will now see what to excpect on the special stages will this afternnon.
Car #17 S. Ogier – J. Ingrassia (Toyota Yaris WRC): It was a good morning we lost less time than expected even if on the Tempio stage we could have done better, I did not take any risks. But it is ok. We have a difficult afternoon since we have to see how the road surface will be.
Car #8 O. Tänak – M. Järveoja (Hyundai i20 Coupé WRC): I had suspension issues from the very beginning of first stage. We tried to solve the problem in the road section but we did not succeed. So we tried to get to the end of the morning and now we are fixing our i20 during service.
Car #69 K. Rovanpera – J. Halttunen (Toyota Yaris WRC): Difficult race, I could have done better, I took a wrong tyre choice, I had three mediums instead of four, then I overshot a junction in Erula and I lost some precious seconds.
Car #11 T. Neuville – N. Gilsoul (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC): We always kept the same rhythm, the car is OK even if it has a harder setup than expected. We did well in the last run in Tula ending up the morning only 4 seconds behind Evans. Now it will be important to fight back in the afternoon.
Car #3 T. Suninen – J. Lehtinen (Ford Fiesta WRC): I really had planned the first stage very carfully with very detailed pacenotes then on the slow turnes my Fiesta really improved and I did that super time In Tempio. The start position was really important and even more it is going to be this afternoon. I am very happy with my performance.
Car #4 E. Lappi – J. Ferm (Ford Fiesta WRC): Temperatures went up suddenly and so, given the white steam coming out from the engine, we stopped. It was a pity because our Fiesta was going very well.
Car #6 D. Sordo – C. Del Barrio (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC): I am very happy, I even could have done better. The first stage Tempio was difficult while I really liked and enjoyed the second one Erula-Tula. The set up of the car is ok, sometimes we only did some swithces. Now we will get ready for this afternoon since the temperatures will be different and we need a good tyre choice.
Car #44 G. Greensmith – E. Edmondson (Ford Fiesta WRC): I am satysfied, it was a good beginning for me and the car and I am enjoying driving it.
Car #7 P.L. Loubet – V. Landais (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC): Very difficult event, the rhythm is very high and I still have to get experience with the WRC Plus car. Anyway, it is OK and I am learning to manage the car at my best.
Car #25 A. Fourmaux – R. Jamoul: I lost some important seconds because of a puncture but it is OK since we are leading in WRC2.
Car #31 O.Solberg – A. Johnston: In Tempio I set a very fast time (7th overall) that really surprised me. A part from an overshoot, everything went well and I am really happy and satysfied to be leading among the R5’s and above all to be 10th overall at my first time here in Sardinia.
