The rally valid for CIR within the Rally Italia Sardegna changes its format following the modifications to the calendar in consequence to the COVID-19 emergency. The world rally championship round will award points only in day one but with coefficient 1.5.
The Italian sporting world and beyond are in stand by at the moment. The temporary stop arrived following the recent Decree-Laws issued by the Government to manage the COVID-19 situation. Due to this, ACI (Automobile Club d’Italia) as the National Federation, declared the suspension of all the motorsport races on the whole National territory until April 3rd.
With these premises, yesterday March 9th 2020 some modifications have been made on the Italian Rally Championship calendar. One of these involves the Rally Italia Sardegna 2020 too. The round of the FIA World Rally Championship scheduled for June 4-7th in between Alghero and Olbia will award points for the CIR drivers at the end of day one. This round will have coefficient 1.5.
This change has been decided by the ACI Commission to allow CIR entrants taking part in the World Rally Championship round to fix the cars in time for the following 43rd Rally Il Ciocco and Valle del Serchio. This round was initially scheduled for March 13-14th but it has been postponed to June 18-20th, right after the RIS, due to the Coronavirus restrictions
Alongside its validity for CIR, the Rally Italia Sardegna will be valid for CIR Junior and Gravel Trophy.
