The rally will be run from October 29th to 30th with base in Alghero.
Italy will continue to have its World Rally Championship round this year too as the Rally Italia Sardegna has been included in the new calendar at the end of October. This is a very important result has been made official this morning by the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile), that has announced the revised calendar of the World Rally Championship 2020. The Rally Italia will be the penultimate round of the season and will take place on October 29th to November 1st. The efforts of Automobile Club d’Italia – that organizes the event in collaboration with Regione Sardegna – and the willingness of the Region to accept the new date have been rewarded since the current touristic season has been extended until the beginning of November. ACI provided a further support to FIA in this difficult post-Covid moment for motorsport after the announced confirmation of the F.1 GP in Monza at the beginning of September.
STICCHI’S COMMENT. “We are obviously happy that a new date has been assigned to Rally Italia Sardegna by FIA and WRC Promoter” – ACI President Angelo Sticchi Damiani commented. “We never doubted on the confirmation of the rally in the FIA World Rally Championship since our event is considered as one of the best in the calendar, but the work to find a new date has been long and difficult. It is not over yet either as the final agreements have to be defined. We can only add that Regione Sardegna has been close to us and discussions with the Promoter are continuing to make sure everyone contributes to yet another high-quality rally. As usual, I would like to thank FIA President Jean Todt, that has been decisive once again and showed his vicinity to the Italian motorsport”.
